GUIDING PRINCIPLES

We are rights-based in approach, multisectoral, multidisciplinary, participative and democratic.
Promoting women's rights everywhere, we believe that laws have to be aligned with international obligations and treaties, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), to realize the goal of women's human rights.

The Philippine Context

No security of tenure of women workers in free trade zones and in department stores. Unequal pay for men and women even if they do the same work or work of equal value.

Lack of family planning and healch services to rural women.

Lack of access to sexuality education and reproductive health information for young women.

Low representation of women in elective positions at hte local and national levels. Ineffective enforcement of various laws such as on sexual harassment, rape, anti-trafficking, and violence against women and their children.

The penal code has different standards and punishment for marital infidelity if committed by men or women.

These are some of the human rights issues that confront millions of Filipino women, espcially the poor. These are examples of discrimination that girl-children and women in our society experience on a daily basis, at home, in schools, in workplaces and in the community.
